Prior to his time in Würzburg, Tom spent 9 years at Royal Holloway, London, where he completed studies in French and German, and in comparative literature. Among his many activities there, he wrote a regular column for the student magazine; he co-ordinated many events; and he officially represented student interests throughout the college. He has taught German, French and English language and translation courses in several environments, as well as literary and cultural studies as Teaching Fellow in German at Royal Holloway after completing his doctorate on Michel Leirirs and Hubert Fichte.

Martyn Ford, 2005 -

After studying German and Italian at Lancaster University and graduating from Bristol University with a PhD in German Studies, Martyn began work as a Lektor at the University of Passau, where he ran the English Drama Group for three and a half years.

Ably assisted by an experienced and committed production team, he staged 5 plays there before moving to the University of Würzburg to continue his work as a Lektor and take over the drama group from Tom Wilks. Since he has been the director of the EDG in Würzburg, the group has performed plays to full houses in its new home, the Stadtmensa, which has an audience capacity of over 200 seats.

Martyn hopes the EDG will perform many more plays in the Stadmensa but in reality has just one wish: that someone else will take on the responsibility of directing for one production so he can act again. It’s been such a long time.
